Al-Azhar Bekasi Brings Global Education to Students Through New Student Admissions and Flagship Programs

Bekasi, September 7, 2026 – Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai has officially opened the New Student Admissions (PMB) for Al-Azhar schools for the upcoming academic year. Held at the Kemang Pratama Campus in Bekasi, the opening marks an opportunity for the Foundation to introduce an educational approach that combines academic excellence, character development, student potential, and preparation for an increasingly global environment.

Through the Al-Azhar schools under its management, Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai continues to develop an educational approach that responds to the needs of today’s generation. Beyond academic achievement, the learning process is designed to foster leadership, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, technological literacy, and support for students’ psychological development.

One of the key educational offerings is the implementation of an international education concept based on the Cambridge curriculum. This approach forms part of the Foundation’s efforts to provide students with broader learning experiences while preparing them for further education, including opportunities to pursue higher education overseas.

Ahmad Zain Sarnoto, Head of Education at Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai, said that the implementation of Cambridge-based education represents one of the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to advance educational standards at Al-Azhar Bekasi.

“Our goal is to introduce to the community that Bekasi is home to an Al-Azhar school that has adopted an international school concept based on Cambridge. This means that Al-Azhar is no longer limited to a local orientation, but has also embraced an international perspective,” said Ahmad Zain.

In addition to Cambridge-based education, the Foundation offers a range of flagship programs designed to support students’ holistic development.

Through the Al-Muhajirien Global Initiative for Leadership Excellence (AGILE), students are encouraged to develop leadership, communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. The program forms part of the Foundation’s commitment to preparing students to adapt and contribute effectively in an increasingly dynamic environment.

The Foundation’s commitment to student development is also reflected in the Al-Muhajirien Psychology Support for Students (APSUS) program. Designed as a continuous support system across educational levels—from kindergarten and elementary school to junior and senior high school—the program addresses students’ psychological well-being and developmental needs throughout their educational journey.

Recognizing the rapid advancement of technology, the Foundation has also introduced the Al-Muhajirien Initiative for Coding & AI (AMICA). The program introduces students to coding and Artificial Intelligence (AI), while encouraging the meaningful use of technology as part of the learning process.

These educational initiatives are complemented by students’ achievements across various fields. As part of the PMB opening activities, the Foundation highlighted the achievement of a student who secured a gold medal at an international competition in Malaysia. The achievement also received recognition from the Bekasi City Government.

As part of this year’s admissions program, Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai is also offering several scholarship opportunities for prospective students. These initiatives reflect the Foundation’s commitment to supporting access to quality education for students.

Nurrohmah, School Consultant at SMA Islam Al Azhar 4 Kemang Pratama, noted that the increasingly diverse range of higher education pathways further highlights the importance of international exposure in students’ educational journeys. In addition to domestic public universities, students and parents are increasingly considering overseas universities as a potential pathway for further study.

The educational programs and facilities offered by the school have also received positive responses from parents attending the PMB event. Kiki, one of the parents present at the event, expressed her appreciation for the school’s educational concept and facilities.

A resident of Vida, Mustikajaya, Kiki said that academic considerations, facilities, and the school’s location were among the factors she considered when choosing an educational institution for her child.

“Beyond the academic aspect, the school is conveniently located, and when it comes to the facilities, there is certainly nothing to worry about. They are very good,” Kiki said.
