Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai Attends the International Grand Imams Conference (IGIC) 2026 in Jakarta

Jakarta, September 28, 2026 — Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai attended the International Grand Imams Conference (IGIC) 2026, held in Jakarta from September 25–27, 2026. Carrying the theme “Masjid Harmony, Religious Diplomacy, and Global Peace,” the conference brought together Grand Imams and religious leaders from various countries to discuss the role of mosques, religious diplomacy, and the contribution of religion to building harmony and global peace.

The discussions at IGIC 2026 positioned mosques as important spaces for fostering harmony within society. Mosques are viewed not only as places of worship, but also as spaces for community interaction, religious guidance, dialogue, and strengthening the social role of religious institutions. In this context, imams hold an important position in conveying messages of peace and fostering constructive relations within society.

The Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Nasaruddin Umar, emphasized the important role of imams in promoting peace while positioning mosques as spaces for encounter.

“The presence of imams is to become ambassadors of peace. Let us make mosques a meeting point.”

This idea is also closely connected to the discussion of religious diplomacy, which was one of the key focuses of IGIC 2026. The Chairman of the Management Board of Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai and Treasurer General of the Ikatan Persaudaraan Imam Masjid (IPIM), Mohammad Syaifudin, stated that the foundation’s participation in IGIC 2026 is expected to serve as an opportunity to broaden its perspective and develop the values discussed at the forum within the foundation’s environment.

Prior to the implementation of IGIC 2026 in Jakarta, Syaifudin was also involved in a series of bridging activities over approximately six months in several regions, including East Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Banten, East Java, and West Java. These activities were carried out in his capacity as part of IPIM and served as one of the processes leading up to the implementation of IGIC 2026.
