Amid 200 Delegates, Al Azhar Bekasi Students Win Nine Awards at Model United Nations 2026

Bekasi, April 11, 2026 — Amid competition from approximately 200 delegates representing 61 schools, students from Al Azhar institutions under the Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai Foundation secured a total of nine awards at the Model United Nations (MUN) 2026 through the Al-Muhajirien Model United Nations (AMUN) 2026, held on April 11–12, 2026 at Four Points by Sheraton Bekasi.

This forum is a simulation of United Nations sessions, bringing together students from various educational levels in an international diplomatic setting. Participants were not only competing, but also actively engaged in a comprehensive diplomatic process, including drafting country positions, presenting arguments, negotiating with fellow delegates, and formulating resolutions on global issues.

At the junior high school level, in the UNESCO council (junior delegates), Abiyyu Javier Rizqy from SMPIA 6 Jaka Permai was awarded Best Delegate. Meanwhile, two students from SMPIA 8 Kemang Pratama, Rekyan Syahla Calesta Maheswari and Begawan Billy Kurniawan, received Honorable Mention and Verbal Commendation, respectively.

At the senior high school level, in the WHO council, students from SMA Islam Al-Azhar 4 also earned several recognitions. The Most Outstanding Delegate award was presented to Ashilla Jasmin Sani. Honorable Mentions were awarded to Aleshia Raihana Zahira and Raihan Maulana Syachputra. In addition, Kenzie Athaya Refano, Almaira Balques Kemalputri, and Rayhan Putra Nurdafa received Verbal Commendations.

Al-Muhajirien Model United Nations (AMUN) 2026 is a Model United Nations forum jointly organized by International Global Network (IGN) and the Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai Foundation, incorporating international standards through the AYIMUN program, which is part of global conference networks such as Asia World Model United Nations (AWMUN).

The conference was attended by Abdul Mu'ti, Indonesia’s Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, as well as Tri Adhianto Tjahyono, Mayor of Bekasi.

In his remarks, Abdul Mu’ti emphasized the strategic importance of initiatives such as Model United Nations in preparing future generations.

This program aligns with efforts to build a resilient Golden Generation 2045 through meaningful learning and healthy competition. Education not only prepares us to build the nation, but also to become global leaders,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Tri Adhianto Tjahyono highlighted the real-world value of such international forums for students.

“This is not merely an activity, but a simulation of the real world. Here, participants learn to express ideas, negotiate, and understand how the world works. Bekasi needs not only a workforce, but also communicators, negotiators, and leaders,” he remarked.

Responding to these achievements, Mohammad Syafiudin, Chairman of the Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai Foundation, explained that the students’ success is the result of a systematically designed and integrated educational process. He emphasized that this accomplishment is supported by continuous development through the AGILE (Al-Muhajirien Global Initiative for Leadership Excellence) program implemented across the Foundation’s institutions.

This is not merely a ceremonial activity or a one-time competition, but part of a structured process that we have built within our schools. Through AGILE, our students are trained from an early stage to develop strong foundational skills, including communication, discussion, and the ability to express and respond to ideas openly," he stated.

He further added, “Whatever fields they pursue in the future, these fundamental skills must continue to be developed. Forums such as Model United Nations provide a highly relevant platform to both test and enhance these abilities in an international context.

From the international partner’s perspective, Muhammad Fahrizal, President of International Global Network (IGN), highlighted the value of MUN as a learning platform that directly exposes students to global dynamics.

Through MUN, students are not only learning theory, but are also exposed to global issues, diverse perspectives, and real-world diplomatic processes. Participation in such forums reflects initiative, critical thinking, global awareness, and increasingly refined communication skills,” he stated.

The conference sessions were moderated by international chairs, including Fatima Massa, Zara Pang, as well as Paris Crishen Liu and Hino Samuel Jose, ensuring that discussions remained dynamic, interactive, and aligned with international diplomatic standards.

As part of the opening ceremony, the Alnine Choir from SD Islam Al Azhar 9 performed the Indonesian national anthem “Indonesia Raya,” followed by the Mars of the Al-Muhajirien Jakapermai Foundation, as well as the song “Hari Baru,” composed by Abdul Mu'ti and arranged and conducted by Dwiki Dharmawan.
