KBIHU Al Azhar Bekasi Records 382 Hajj Pilgrims in 2026, Highest in the Past Five Years
BEKASI, APRIL 21, 2026 — KBIHU Al Azhar Bekasi has recorded its highest number of Hajj pilgrims in the past five years, with a total of 382 pilgrims departing for the 2026 Hajj season. This figure marks a significant increase compared to previous years, with 134 pilgrims in 2022, 215 in 2023, 151 in 2024, and 180 in 2025, positioning the group among the larger Hajj guidance contingents this year.
All 382 pilgrims were officially sent off as part of Indonesia’s first departure group (Kloter 01) in a ceremony held at Masjid Jami Al-Azhar Jaka Permai. The pilgrims are scheduled to enter the Hajj dormitory on April 21, 2026, before departing for Saudi Arabia on April 22, 2026.
The send-off ceremony was attended by the 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ma'ruf Amin, alongside representatives of Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien and family members of the pilgrims.
In his remarks, Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that Hajj is a demanding form of worship requiring comprehensive readiness.
“Hajj is a demanding obligation as it requires financial capability, physical health, and the opportunity to perform it. Therefore, those who are called to undertake it should be grateful,” he stated.
He also underlined the importance of sincere intention in performing Hajj.
“If the intention is truly for the sake of Allah, then the pilgrims become guests of Allah. Otherwise, the value of the worship may be affected,” he added.
Furthermore, he reminded pilgrims to maintain proper conduct, particularly patience, throughout the pilgrimage.
“A mabrur Hajj is one that is free from disputes. Patience is essential,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien, Mohammad Syafiuddin, stated that the send-off ceremony forms part of the overall preparation process prior to departure.
“This year, the number of departing pilgrims is quite significant. We hope all pilgrims will be able to perform their Hajj smoothly and return in good health,” he said.
He also encouraged pilgrims to maintain unity and follow the guidance provided by the appointed mentors.
KBIHU (Kelompok Bimbingan Ibadah Haji dan Umrah) is an institution that provides guidance for prospective Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, including pre-departure training and on-site assistance during the pilgrimage. KBIHU Al Azhar Bekasi operates under the auspices of Yayasan Waqaf Al-Muhajirien, an organization engaged in educational and religious activities.
The ceremony included speeches, prayers, and a symbolic presentation to representatives of the pilgrim group. The event was attended by families who accompanied the pilgrims ahead of their departure.
With a total of 382 pilgrims in 2026, KBIHU Al Azhar Bekasi continues to contribute to Indonesia’s Hajj operations, reflecting a steady increase in participation over the past five years.
